Workshops

The art centre regularly conducts on-site painting and print workshops for the artists. These workshops provide an important opportunity for the artists to learn new skills, experiment with different mediums and take time off from their regular activities for professional development.

Over the past five years the artists have produced many new editions of prints in collaboration with Northern Editions, Darwin and Basil Hall Editions as well as being introduced to new mediums including ochre on paper and watercolours. In April 2008 the art centre held it's first jewellery workshop. During the school holidays children were invited to come along and walk off wearing what they had created!

These workshops are also a good inter-generational excerise to help to engage with a broader cross section of the community.

Several more workshops are planned for 2008.

In 2006 the art centre held a workshop which focused on introducing the younger artists to printmaking. The old and young artists worked side by side. All the completed etching plates by the younger artists were editioned and have sold very successfully

In April 08 Helen Aitken-Kuhnen from Workshop Bilk , Canberra and Elisabeth Holder from Germany came for a three day jewellery workshop during the school holidays
